BA/BA (Hons) Acting and Performance*

The BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen course has been a successful, ten year long partnership between Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh Napier University. This delivery of this course has been supported by strategic funding which has now come to an end. As such, the last intake of new students to this course was in September 2019 (ie there will be no intake from 2020 onwards).  QMU remains committed to delivering degree level education in the performing arts, and offers a vibrant range of other courses in this area. As such, you may wish to consider our other performing arts degrees which include BA (Hons) Drama, BA (Hons) Theatre and Film and our new BA (Hons) Acting and Performance*.

This new acting and performance degree will draw on Queen Margaret University’s rich and highly respected teaching expertise within the performing arts.  Intended as an articulation route to a degree level qualification for those who have successfully completed an HND in Acting and Performance, the course will combine intensive actor training with modules that will expand your skills to include areas such as community theatre, playwriting, devising and creative entrepreneurship. The rich and varied curriculum means that the course will not only provide the training you require to pursue a career in acting but will also provide you with the skills required for a diverse range of careers within the creative and cultural industries.

Your learning on this course will involve undertaking skills based workshops in voice, movement, acting, and textual analysis and interpretation as well as conducting student led research projects, taking part in professional standard performances, and preparing a professional profile to support your career after graduation.

QMU has been delivering courses in the performing arts for over forty years and we have ten years of experience in successfully supporting students to transition from further education into a university environment. The teaching team at QMU appreciates the diverse and creative excellence of the educational experience received in further education and through this new degree seeks to develop, expand and deepen the skills that student will already have begun to develop.

This course will enable you to convert an appropriate existing qualification into a degree and is equivalent to Years Three and Four of a  BA (Hons) degree. As such, entry is into Year Three, only.

As further details of this new course become available they will be updated on our website.
